I frequent a local Tim Horton's here on a regular basis, and I'm starting to see a pattern forming...  Aside from the lack of staff, has anyone else noticed this?  When I order a large coffee, the total comes to $1.49.  If I give them $1.50, it's not uncommon for them to not even offer the penny back.  No big deal, really, as a penny these days is fairly worthless, even though I collect them in a jar at home...

Anyhow, Extra Large coffee's sell for $1.64, and today I handed over $1.70...  The cashier never offered my change back...  Again, I'm not too worried about 6 cents, but I don't like that principle...  If I want to tip the cashier I will if the service is good, but I do expect every penny and dime back before I do so...

Has anyone else experienced this before?

Starbucks is an even $2.00 for a coffee 'grande,' if I recall...  No issues with change there!
I don't mind Starbucks coffee, but I don't mind Tim Horton's coffee either...  The only gripe I could add is that Tim Horton's coffee cup lids are not good, and allow me to easily spill coffee on myself when I try to drink and drive, making it look like I pissed my pants if I'm not super-careful...  Starbucks utilizes better lids!

speaking of coffee shops.

In the past, I preferred Blenz over Starbucks.  Although most of the time I order hot chocolate.

But ever since they had wireless internet in there, I rarely go there anymore.  Mainly because there is practically nowhere to sit down as every available table/seat  is occupied by people with laptops piggy backing on some internet.

Ya...  most likely people who've been cut off from leeching their neighbours wireless...  They probably clued in and secured their networks!

Stay away from people that can't afford to subscribe to their own service provider!  They're bad news!  Lolz...

lol,

I remember one time, I temporarily removed the security on my router since I have a co-worker who despite our efforts can't connect on the router.
I forgot to turn it on after we were done with some work and never realized till a few hours later.

I checked my logs, I saw 6 computers who piggybacked on the router, and 2 that were still connected.

I drew some satisfaction when I turned on the router security and cut off the leeches [Cheesy]

This happens a lot here too, but instead they will give you a little candy or something as change. We don't usually tip waiters, so now some fast-food restaurants are including a 10% tip on the bill.

You're a good guy, Munra!  I must wish you a good weekend!

I've been working on a couple of rooms here in the house, and they're keeping me busy...  I'll probably be keeping a lower profile here on teh forumz for the better part of this long weekend while I, well we, work on fixing up the rooms to look as new...  I knew this work would have to be done sooner or later!

I should bring up an important point here...  All you hackers should do your best work in cracking my IP subscription, and obtaining my home address...  I could certainly use an extra hand or two over at my place here for the more manual type labour jobs, at least for now :-)  You're more than welcome to come help!

Anyhow, goodnight all!

say by conservative estimate they serve 6 customers per hour, meaning  one every 10 minutes

6 customers x 8 hours  = 48 customers
48 x 22 days = 1056 customers
1056 x 12 months= 12672 customers x 0.01 =  126.72 dollars in a year

What about the lunch hour? They probably serve atleast 75 to 100 people then.

and another thing when it comes to these fast food drive thru's you can bet 7 times out of 10 that your order will be wrong....you can almost make a bet on it...and i know the reason why its usually because its some young person behind the counter getting minimum wage and day dreaming about some guy or girl....or just plain daydreaming...

well if we modify the estimation where you serve one customer per minute
that would just be 480 customers per day (for one cashier)
480x22 daysx12months = 126720 customers x 0.01 = 1267.20 dollars in a year.

You forgot to include the drive though cashier and usually Tims has a couple of cash registers inside going at a time.

Which Tim Horton were you at, Ace? Seems a tad rude of them not to offer your change back. Had it been me, I would have asked for change. Not that I'm being cheap but it's the principle of it. Let me decide if I should hand over my change to you.

My dad went to Texas once for a meeting. The same thing happened to him over there. Like he paid the cab driver and he wouldn't give change back. Same thing at all the restaurants he ate.
