Isn't this just scary? Imagine being declared 'dead' only to wake to the pain of someone cutting your face! [xx(]

CARACAS (Reuters) - A Venezuelan man who had been declared dead woke up in the morgue in excruciating pain after medical examiners began their autopsy.

Carlos Camejo, 33, was declared dead after a highway accident and taken to the morgue, where examiners began an autopsy only to realize something was amiss when he started bleeding. They quickly sought to stitch up the incision on his face.

"I woke up because the pain was unbearable," Camejo said, according to a report on Friday in leading local newspaper El Universal.

His grieving wife turned up at the morgue to identify her husband's body only to find him moved into a corridor -- and alive.

Reuters could not immediately reach hospital officials to confirm the events. But Camejo showed the newspaper his facial scar and a document ordering the autopsy.

i can't even imagine, but I can imagine the barbaric medicine of many lesser developed countries that can't properly pronounce a person dead.

I am an organ donor...but I always wonder if they will really do a good job first of making sure you are actually dead before they cut you open to hand out your parts! yikes..scary thought![:0][:0]

a person's pulse can become so slow that it is undetectectable.

I had a buddy who had a hernia operation and the doctor put him under but didn't give him enough to put him out all the way.  He was awake the whole time and could see and hear and FEEL the scalpel cutting through flesh and muscle but he couldn't move because his body was basically paralysed.  He had full out surgery without pain killers or being knocked out.  Said to me it was a living waking hell and he couldn't do anything about it.  He was really f***ed up for a long time after and had to see a bunch of head shrinkers to try and help him.

I have heard similar stories[:0][:0]
Iremember one about a man having to have his leg amputated same thing, fully aware of all of it! They did not believe him until he told them what was playing on the stereo during surgery and what they yapped about!  Hopefully your friend got a lawyer and got some kind of compensation for his suffering![B)]

He won some money but sh- money can't buy back your sanity or undo the horrors of that.  I would have found the quack and beat the sh- out of him.
