A coworker of mine is over in Paris on vacation with his wife... Turns out they are STUCK there due to the cancelled flights/the volcanic ash...
I was just wondering is there any sort of insurance to compensate them for the extra costs to stay, and then the possible lost wages if they can't get back to work soon?

insurance is for things like "acts of god", isn't it? it's not the airline company's fault anyway

i think you're right it is if it is specified like flood insurance. i doubt the airlines have a coverage for this. rates would have to be awfully high before an insurance company would cover it and i don't think airlines could afford it.

i'm just guessing, but this would break most insurance companies and i highly doubt it is covered.
